Peter E. Jasper Sr., (90) of Meadowbrook, PA passed away on April 12th, 2024.
Peter was born to Edward and Mary Jasper on September 23rd, 1933 in New York, NY. He attended Princeton University where he received an undergraduate degree in Engineering and subsequently served in the Air Force as a test pilot and First Lieutenant. After marrying his wife Joan Jasper and starting a family, he continued his education attaining a Master’s degree in Systems Engineering and Operations Research from the University of Pennsylvania and an additional Master’s degree in Engineering from Drexel University. Peter spent his professional career working as an aeronautic engineer with a specialty in celestial mechanics.
On a more personal note, Peter loved spending time with his family. He was married to the love of his life, Joan Jasper, for 68 years. They first met in high school at 14 years of age. He loved spending time with his four children and 11 grandchildren in Long Beach Island and especially enjoyed long nature walks along the beach to the lighthouse at low tide. Peter had a passion for gardening and had a magical green thumb especially in harvesting supersonic tomatoes and sugar snap peas. He was an avid lover of sports, particularly skilled in basketball and tennis. He had a strong interest in astronomy and built a 6-inch reflecting telescope, which he used to gaze at the stars with his grandchildren in LBI. Peter was a sweet, gentle soul who smiled often and had a great sense of humor. He was deeply spiritual and introduced his family to meditation back in the 1970's before the practice became mainstream.
Peter is survived by his wife Joan and four children, Peter Jr, Cynthia, James, and John. He also is survived by 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Peter’s family will be celebrating his life in a private ceremony.
