Harold Wilmer Stauffer Obituary

Harold Wilmer Stauffer, aged 70, died unexpectedly on Easter Day, March 31, 2024. He was born in Lancaster to the late Wilmer and Corena (Yoder) Stauffer. Wilmer is survived by Janet (Keeport) Stauffer, his wife of 49 years. Also surviving are his children Sheila (Daniel) Aukerman, Westminster, MD and Geri Stauffer, Akron, PA and beloved cat, Olde Ugli, along with grandchildren Elsie-Kate and Isaiah. Surviving siblings are Miriam (Michael) Szelistowski, Joyce Stauffer, John (Cathy) Stauffer, Jim (Janet) Stauffer, and Sharon (John) Reeser.

Wilmer graduated from Lancaster Mennonite High School in 1971. He was a member of ACTS Covenant Fellowship. He worked at Hayward Distributing as a parts specialist. Previous jobs include working on his family's farm and in the Produce Dept of Stauffers of Kissel Hill and Weaver Markets in Denver.

Wilmer cherished his wife, his family and his grandkids. He was a good father. He was an encourager of others. He helped when he saw a need. He loved cats and excelled at crossword puzzles. He delighted in stories. His chuckle could light up a room. Lancaster County was his world and gardening his passion. At the end of a work day, there was nothing he’d rather do than put his hands in the dirt. He will be missed.

Wilmer will be put to rest privately and at the convenience of family.
